The NFL will return to using Roman numerals for Super Bowl LI, which is slated to be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas in February 2017.
In June of last year, the league released the national and regional logos for the game that feature the famed Vince Lombardi Trophy in the center with the number ‘5’ and ‘0’ on either side.
Instead of using the traditional silver, the 50 is written in gold to reflect ‘the preeminence of the Super Bowl’ and it also reflects ‘the host region’s historic Gold Rush in the broader setting of the Golden State,’according to the NFL.
In addition, stadiums will feature 50 yard lines in gold to further commemorate the significant milestone, the NFL says.
